From first beginnings, Eurocargo was designed to be a leader - and since 1991, it has continued to set new market standards at every stage of its evolution.
Productivity for all applications
Eurocargo was designed to guarantee complete operator satisfaction, particularly in terms of reliability and productivity. As a vehicle, it is adaptable to any type of application or operation, thanks to a modular design structure that ensures all-round versatility without compromising design integrity.
EuroCargo Range
The Eurocargo range was conceived to meet the widest possible range of operator and application requirements.
4x2 EL low chassis models are ideal for urban deliveries, for example - 4x4 variants find even the most challenging terrain simple because four-wheel drive is standard - whilst the K range has a differential lock, a protective grille for the radiator, sheet metal bumpers and easy-to-clean interiors specifically for quarry and construction work.
Models
Who wants the very best chooses Eurocargo, a comprehensive range from 6 to 18 tonnes.
For road-going versions, the choice is between:
- 6-10 tonne range - trucks with gross vehicle weights (GVW) from 6 to 10 tonnes, and engines delivering from 130 to 210 HP.
- 11-18 tonne range - trucks with GVW’s from 11 to 18 tonnes and engines delivering from 170 to 280 HP.
A 4x4 off-road version is available too, at a choice of GVW’s: 7.49 tonnes at 180 HP, 10 tonnes at 180 or 210 HP, or 14 tonnes at 240 HP.
Cabs
The Eurocargo cab was designed to meet the needs of drivers and applications alike. The result is a wide range of alternatives:
- short cab, for day-to-day operations with no nights spent on board
- long cab, with sleeping area and a choice of one or two bunks
- 6+1 crew cab, for special applications such as roadside recovery, ‘blue light’ operations and construction crews.
Eurocargo 4x4 is a case apart. In both design and comfort, it resembles 4x2 models - yet high-set ground clearance and permanent four-wheel drive makes it an ideal medium-heavy off-road construction vehicle.
All cabs share the same easy access, with one or two wide steps depending on design weight. And when the doors are opened, courtesy lights illuminate the steps and the surrounding area.
Style
Designed by Bertone to the latest design criteria, a modern, stylish cab heightens the exclusive satisfaction of owning a Eurocargo. Its sturdy steel structure is finished with exterior panels that are shaped to be non-aggressive and aerodynamically perfect. Its shape is smoothed by side air deflectors to eliminate turbulence and keep doors and handles clean and free from dirt.
Comfort
On board comfort and practicality are the key elements to Eurocargo. Great care went into the finish of cab interiors, which use only top quality materials. And Eurocargo has plenty of storage space too, over the windscreen and on the fascia in front of the passenger seat.
Switches and controls are designed for ease of use in all driving conditions: the indicators, horn, lights, windscreen wipers and optional Cruise Control system are all easy to use and within easy reach. With LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitor, electronic instrumentation in the dashboard provides immediate warnings and information about the state of the vehicle to ensure a comfortable, safe drive and optimal vehicle management. With its innovative design, the steering wheel adjusts for height and rake, allowing the driver to choose his ideal driving position.
Engine
Eurocargo is the result of an technical concept that focused in detail on every single component of the vehicle. A vehicle that delivers superior levels of power and torque makes life easier for the driver. It cuts running costs. And all this is made possible by its Tector engine, the real heart of Eurocargo.
All Tector engines adopt the common rail high pressure injection system, originally designed by Centro Ricerche Fiat, and then developed by Bosch. This translates into powerful performance, significant savings on fuel and very low exhaust emissions.
Performance
The Tector engine has always been appreciated for its:
- low emissions (conforming to Euro3)
- widespread torque delivery, even at low rev speeds (with peak torque available from 1200 rpm to 2100 rpm)
- flexibility (30% fewer gear changes)
- low weight and easy repairs
-
low fuel consumption.
There is a choice of seven Tector engines in two different configurations, both with common rail high pressure injection:
- 4 cylinders delivering 130, 150 or 170 HP.
- 6 cylinders delivering 180, 210, 240 or 280 HP
Maintenance
Eurocargo was designed to reduce not only operating costs, but also maintenance costs. It can travel up to 80,000 kms before the engine oil and filter need replacing, and for two years before the coolant needs to be changed.
Driveline
Eurocargo is much more than a modern, comfortable cab and a powerful engine, however. On-road, its performance is enhanced by a range of easy-to-use gearboxes, whilst the opportunity to choose between numerous driveline configurations makes Eurocargo endlessly flexible
Gearbox
A choice between a 5, 6 or 9-speed gearbox allows the customer to choose the best solution for his specific requirements.
An Allison automatic transmission is available on some models, which makes parking or reversing easy and precise. The speed with which these manoeuvres can be performed means time saved and greater profitability. And 4x4 models can be fitted with 6-speed gearboxes and a built-in PTO.
Rear / Front axles
Eurocargo is much more than a modern, comfortable cab and a powerful engine, however. On-road, its performance is enhanced by a range of easy-to-use gearboxes, whilst the opportunity to choose between numerous driveline configurations makes Eurocargo endlessly flexible.
Chassis / Suspension
Eurocargo comes with a comprehensive choice of wheelbases, allowing body lengths of 3845 to 10,070 mm. There’s also a versatile range of suspension systems: with parabolic or semi-elliptical leaf springs, and the option of rear only or all-round air suspension, managed by ECAS (electronically controlled air suspension).
Suspension
When the vehicle is used primarily for delivery work, loading and unloading operations happen frequently – and air suspension, particularly all-round, can make all the difference, particularly as a means of improving handling.
Eurocargo offers the option of rear only or all-round ECAS air suspension that electronically controls load distribution and the height of the chassis. And it’s easy for the driver to change the set-up too, because ECAS makes loading and unloading simple, fast and safe.
Frame
Eurocargo was designed to be ideal for all types of transport. That’s why it has an extraordinarily strong chassis, with flat-topped parallel steel rails. It is equipped with electrical and electronic fitments to connect servo-controls to the original system, to make life simple for bodybuilders. And there is a comprehensive range of wheelbases (from 2700 to 6570 mm) available.
Braking system
Safety is a given on Eurocargo. Features include:
- ABS as standard throughout the range; the control unit also manages electronic braking
- Engine brake with triple activation (standard equipment throughout, optional only on 130 and 150 Hp models); depending on the vehicle’s application, this engine brake is activated when the accelerator is released or when the service brake is activated by a pushbutton on the dashboard.
Ventilated disc brakes are standard on all the 4x2 models, including 12 to 18 tonne versions. And the rear axles on which the brakes are mounted are easily repaired, which means a saving in time and money.
Immobiliser
An optional immobiliser is incorporated in the ignition key and interfaces with the electronic engine control unit. The engine cannot be started without the correct key.
Speed limiter
A programmable speed limiter is adjusted by the engine control unit. To make driving in urban areas easier, the driver can set a lower speed than the programmed limit to ensure he remains safe and legal at all times. |
